On June 6th, 2014, the Recreation and Parks Department of Greenville, NC hosted an unveiling ceremony for the public art made for the Dream Park on Chestnut Street. This included two STUNNING mosaic benches made by the wonderful and talented Aisling Millar-McDonald and my (super fly!) sculpture, "Spread Your Wings". The ceremony was perfect! It was a beautiful day, with great company and delicious snow cones provided by the city! One of my favorite moments of the day has to be when a large group of kids from the community showed up (a lot of whom I had taught during my internship!) and they were so excited to see my sculpture. The park, equipped with everything from trees to climb to a splash point/water park, is an amazing addition to the community. I am honored to have been a part of it! I am so lucky to have such an amazing family, who came from all over to support me for the unveiling. I had family come to Greenville all the way from South Carolina, Delaware, New Jersey, Philly, Connecticut, and Rhode Island! I LOVE YOU ALL, you beautiful people!!!!! We had a fun photo shoot on my sculpture, everyone taking turns spreading their wings :) We even made it on the front page of the Daily Reflector in Greenville. Anyone who finds themselves in or around Greenville, NC, go to the Dream Park and snap a few shots yourself! #SPREADYOURWINGS Check out the Daily Reflector article here: http://www.greenvillenc.gov/departments/rec_parks_dept/information/default.aspx?id=22500
